Diatomaceous Earth is a 100% natural product created from the ancient fossil shells of diatoms (a type of algae). Supplied ready to use in a 400g container, the powder sticks to the waxy cuticles of fleas and many other insect pests and is then absorbed, leading to insect dehydration. For best results apply the powder thoroughly to carpets and pet bedding, working it in with a soft brush so that the powder is equally spread and no longer shows. Most fleas should be dead within 48 hours. Leave for seven days then vacuum the area thoroughly and re-apply. This process should be repeated twice, after which you should be well on the way to getting rid of your flea problem. Diatomaceous Earth can also be used as a short-term, overnight treatment if used as part of programme of flea control products.
